Spoken Word in October

Beginning Wednesday October 15, we will be welcoming local area poets to share their work with the Venue community. Byron DeHaan and Jim Sullivan will kick off the series. This part of event planning is my favorite…giving writers a place to gather and perform! We’ll come up with some kind of delicious and inspired drink special to accompany the evening’s festivities. After the reading, we’ll feature an Open Mic session. Dust off your notebooks, fire up your Macs, get out your berets and join us at Venue.

First live music Friday

We had our first live music event last Friday and we were pleased with what a success it ended up being. Of course that was after we paced around the gallery for two hours wondering if anyone would really come. We have no liquor license, no advertising budget, and no money, and yet we still had this amazing turnout. It makes me so excited about this crazy endeavor that we’ve decided to pursue. It also makes me realize that the people of this area must really be ready for something like this. Singer/songwriter/guitarist/one-man-band/you-name-it Peter Adriel kept the crowd’s attention with his folksy bluegrass mix of unique songs while we honored the members of the Fine Arts Society with complementary snacks and beverages.

Our new sign!!
Hopefully some more of you will be able to join us for this Friday’s live music featuring the Ed Kaizer trio. Once again the music starts at 7pm, but feel free to come anytime. This week it is bring your own beverages as we wait for our highly anticipated liquor license.

Speaking of that time…stay tuned as we put our heads together with a few of the great food preparation businesses of our area (including the new kitchen store sprouting up on the first floor below us). As we begin to offer beverages, we think it would be a fantastic idea to offer “picnics” that could be ordered and delivered straight to your party at our location. Fabulous food, delicious wine, beautiful art, jazzy music, and great conversation…all of which brings together different avenues of our wonderful little town..what more could anyone ask for?
